RoomLane Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 14, 2026
RoomLane turns a photo of an indoor room into a working board: you walk the floor, ink a circulation lane, pin styles to walls, and keep the after-still you accept on that Space. This policy explains what stays on your iPhone, what leaves it, and the choices you have. Questions go to stillboard@roomlane.app.
The short version
- There is no RoomLane account and no RoomLane server. Your Spaces, room stills, walk notes, style chips, and accepted Variants are stored on your device.
- Nothing is sent to an AI provider until you tap Allow on the in-app sharing card, and you can turn sharing off at any time.
- RoomLane does not track you across apps or websites, does not request App Tracking Transparency permission, does not show ads, and does not include analytics, advertising, or attribution SDKs.
- RoomLane has no in-app purchases.
What stays on your device
The room stills you photograph or pick, your walk notes, the lanes you ink, pinned style chips, accepted after-stills, and your sharing choices are saved in RoomLane's storage on your iPhone. We cannot see, recover, or restore this data.
What leaves your device, and only after Allow
When sharing is on for a Space, RoomLane uses two outside services:
DeepSeek (api.deepseek.com) reads the walk and proposes lanes, style pins, and Variants. For each request RoomLane may send the room still as an image, your walk as text (typed, or transcribed from speech), the room's openings and pinned style chips, and instructions that describe the task.
MiniMax (image generation API) paints a proposed after-still. RoomLane sends MiniMax a short text description of the restyle only. The room photo itself is not sent to MiniMax; RoomLane looks at its shape on your device only to choose the image's aspect ratio.
RoomLane does not send your name, contacts, location, or any account or device identifier to these services. RoomLane does not detect or remove faces, so avoid photographing people if you do not want their images included in a still sent to DeepSeek.
Each provider handles the data under its own policy: DeepSeek Privacy Policy and MiniMax Privacy Policy.
Turning sharing off
Settings → Nested agent sharing → Turn sharing off stops later requests, including a walk already in progress. The local board keeps working. Turning sharing back on shows the Allow card again. If this disclosure changes, RoomLane asks for Allow again.
Permissions
- Camera — to photograph the room you want to restyle.
- Photo picker — to choose an existing room photo. RoomLane receives only the photo you pick.
- Add to Photos — to save an after-still when you tap Save to Photos. RoomLane does not read your library.
- Microphone and Speech Recognition — to let you speak a walk. Speech is turned into text using Apple's speech recognition; RoomLane requires on-device recognition when your device supports it, otherwise Apple may process the audio under Apple's terms. RoomLane does not send the recording to DeepSeek or MiniMax, only the resulting text when sharing is on.
You can change any permission in iOS Settings.
Retention and deletion
Data on your device stays until you delete the app, which removes all RoomLane Spaces and stills. RoomLane has no separate delete-all control. Data already sent to DeepSeek or MiniMax is kept under their policies.
Children
RoomLane is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We will update the effective date above when this policy changes, and RoomLane asks for a fresh Allow when what it shares changes.
